Community Guidelines

Last updated: July 11, 2026 · Rules that keep HerDate safe for WLW

Golden rule: treat others the way you want to be treated. Respect, honesty, and consent are non-negotiable. HerDate is a space for lesbian, bi, and queer women — protect that space.

HerDate helps women who love women (aged 18+) build real connections. These guidelines apply to all users on web and mobile. Violations may result in warnings, suspension, or permanent removal. They work together with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. For practical tips, see the Safety Center. Our published Child Safety Standards (CSAE) prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation.

1. Our purpose

HerDate exists so lesbian, bisexual, queer, and other WLW users can date, make friends, and feel seen — without harassment, fetishization, or bad-faith accounts. If you are here to troll, harvest photos, or target queer women, you do not belong here.

2. Be respectful

Everyone deserves to feel safe here:

  • Treat every member with kindness and dignity.
  • No harassment, bullying, stalking, or repeated unwanted contact after someone says no or blocks you.
  • No hate speech, slurs, or attacks based on sexual orientation, gender identity, race, religion, caste, disability, body type, or other identity.
  • No threats of violence, intimidation, or blackmail.
  • Rejection is not an invitation to argue, insult, or “prove” yourself. Handle disagreements without personal attacks.
  • Do not fetishize or objectify women on the basis of identity (for example treating bisexuality or masculinity/femininity as a kink others must perform for you).

3. Identity, pronouns & outing

  • Respect the names, pronouns, and identities people share with you. Deliberate misgendering or deadnaming is harassment.
  • Never out someone — do not reveal that they are LGBTQ+, that they use HerDate, or details from their profile/chat to family, employers, social media, or anyone else without clear consent.
  • Do not pressure others to disclose medical history, transition status, HIV status, or other private health information.
  • If someone is discreet or not fully out, respect that. Discreet does not mean deceptive — but lying about material facts to harm others is not allowed.

4. Keep it real

Authentic profiles build trust:

  • Use your own recent photos — no catfishing or stolen images.
  • Provide accurate age, identity presentation, and location.
  • One account per person — no ban-evasion accounts.
  • Do not misrepresent your age (18+ only).
  • Heavily misleading or AI-generated photos that pretend to be you are not allowed.
  • Do not create accounts as a man pretending to be a woman, or for “research,” journalism, or content creation without disclosing that intent and getting our permission.

5. Safe content only

Flirtation and dating are welcome. The following are not allowed on profiles or in chats we moderate:

  • Explicit sexual images or nudity in profile photos (keep public profiles appropriate).
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII), revenge porn, or deepfake sexual content.
  • Any sexual content involving anyone under 18 — zero tolerance.
  • Content promoting violence, illegal drugs for sale, trafficking, or other illegal activity.
  • Phishing links, malware, or attempts to steal accounts.

Unsolicited explicit images in chat are a consent violation even between adults — see below.

6. Consent matters

  • Accept “no” gracefully — never pressure after rejection.
  • Do not send unsolicited explicit images or voice notes.
  • Ask before sharing personal contact details or social handles.
  • Recording calls, screen-recording chats, or sharing private conversations without consent is prohibited.
  • Consent to chat is not consent to meet; consent to meet is not consent to intimacy. Check in clearly, every time.

7. No spam or scams

Keep HerDate personal, not commercial:

  • No advertising, MLM schemes, or paid promotions without approval.
  • No phishing, fraud, crypto “investments,” or requests for money/gifts from people you have not met safely in person.
  • No escort services or paid companionship solicitation.
  • No bots, scripts, or mass spam messaging.
  • No using HerDate to recruit for unrelated apps, surveys, or research without permission.

8. Protect privacy

  • Never share another person’s private photos, messages, address, phone number, or workplace without consent.
  • Do not dox users or screenshot private chats for public shaming.
  • Report blackmail or threats of outing immediately.
  • Use discreet features if you need them, and never demand that others drop their privacy boundaries.

9. Meeting offline

If you meet someone from HerDate in person:

  • Meet in a public place for the first time.
  • Tell a trusted friend where you’re going and when you’ll check in.
  • Arrange your own transportation.
  • Trust your instincts — leave if something feels wrong.
  • Never send money to someone you haven’t met in person.
  • Be mindful of local safety contexts for LGBTQ+ people in your area.

More detail is in our Safety Center.

10. Reporting & enforcement
