Delete your account

Last updated: July 11, 2026 · Same flow as in the HerDate app

Account deletion happens inside the HerDate app. This page explains the exact steps and what is removed — matching the in-app Delete Account screen. There is a 7-day recovery window before permanent deletion.

HerDate accounts are created and managed with Google Sign-In. To delete your account and personal data, use the built-in delete flow in the mobile app. Related: Privacy Policy · Terms of Service.

1. How to delete in the app

Deletion is only completed through the HerDate Android app:

  1. Open HerDate and sign in with Google.
  2. Go to your Profile.
  3. Open Settings.
  4. Under Account, tap Delete Account.
  5. Read the information on the Delete Account screen, then tap Delete my account.
  6. In the confirmation sheet, check “I understand this action and the 7-day recovery window”, then tap Yes, delete my account.

Path in the app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account (route /delete-account).

2. Confirmation step

Before deletion is scheduled, the app asks you to confirm that you understand:

  • Your profile will be hidden immediately.
  • You can recover within 7 days by signing in again.
  • After that, your data is permanently removed.

You must tick the confirmation checkbox; Cancel leaves your account unchanged.

3. What happens immediately

When you confirm, HerDate:

  • Marks your account for deletion (isDeleted) and records the time (deletedAt).
  • Hides your profile from Discover and other discovery surfaces (isHidden).
  • Sets you offline.
  • Signs you out of the app.

You will see a message that your account is scheduled for deletion and that you can sign in within 7 days to recover.

Note: Messages you already sent may still be visible to other people in their chats until permanent deletion is completed.

4. 7-day recovery window

For 7 days after you request deletion, your account is pending deletion — not yet permanently erased.

  • Sign in again with the same Google account within 7 days.
  • The app shows a Recover your account? dialog with how many days you have left.
  • Tap Recover account to restore your profile, chats, and matches (clears the deletion flags and unhides your profile).
  • Or tap Sign out to leave the account still scheduled for deletion.

If you do nothing for 7 days, the next time the app processes your account (for example when you try to sign in), permanent deletion is finalized.

5. After 7 days (permanent deletion)

Once the recovery window expires:

  • Your user profile document is permanently deleted from our systems.
  • The account cannot be restored.
  • You would need to create a new account with Google Sign-In if you want to use HerDate again.

Limited records may be retained longer only where required for law, security, or payment disputes (for example ban history or purchase receipts), as described in the Privacy Policy.

6. What data is removed

Consistent with the in-app delete experience and our privacy practices:

  • Immediately: profile is hidden from Discover; you are signed out; account is marked deleted.
  • After the 7-day window: profile and personal account data are permanently deleted and cannot be restored.
  • Chat messages visible to other users may remain until permanent deletion completes.

We aim to clear remaining personal data from active systems within about 30 days after finalization, except limited legal/security retention.

7. Premium subscriptions

Deleting your HerDate account does not automatically cancel a Google Play or other store subscription. Cancel Premium in Google Play (or the billing provider you used) to stop future charges. Refunds follow the store’s policies.

8. Can’t open the app?

Account deletion is designed to be done in the app so we can verify it is you via Google Sign-In. If you cannot open HerDate (for example lost device access), email us from the same Google email linked to your account:
